Question of the Day: Can Cold Feet Be Warmed Up?

June 23, 2008

Dr. Emma: While I was doing some cleaning this weekend, I found an engagement ring in my boyfriend's sock drawer. I was completely taken by surprise! We haven’t been talking about marriage at all. Now, the more I think about it, I'm not sure I really even want to marry him! Am I just getting cold feet, or does my hesitation mean he's not the one for me?

Maxine: He's ready to pop the question, but you two have had no dialogue on the subject? Some might call that romantic. I call it ridiculous. Marriage is not a spontaneous act. It is a carefully calculated negotiation, much like starting a business or building a well-rounded stock portfolio.

Sounds to me like you're with Mr. Right-Now instead of Mr. Right. My two cents: the only way to warm up cold feet is to keep walking.

I once had a guy propose to me after the third date. I laughed at him, thinking it was a joke, but then he started crying. Oops!

My last boyfriend proposed to me by text message. Needless to say, he was not a keeper.

You people don’t have cold feet, you have cold hearts.
